Hobbs First Assembly was established in 1935. Since its conception HFA has grown significantly resulting in many building projects. Its original location is pictured below and was constructed through the volunteer labor of its congregants and pastors

In January of 2001, under the leadership of Pastor Ernie Eidson the church began praying for a new facility. The significant growth of the church had left many of HFA ministries without enough space. Pastor Ernie began seeking God's direction and was soon directed towards an existing facility once occupied by a supermarket.

Pastor Ernie contacted the owners of the building and inquired about the purchase price of the property. A short time later, HFA made an offer on the property and entered into a verbal agreement. However, circumstances prevented the purchase to be completed and HFA's future relocation plans were greatly delayed. Having been reminded during prayer that Hobby Lobby would assist churches in purchasing new properties, Pastor Ernie contacted them. Within a few short weeks Hobby Lobby stepped in and purchase the property then donated it to Hobbs First Assembly.

From the beginning of this new venture Pastor Ernie and HFA declared "This is God's Project not Ours".

After HFA received notification from Hobby Lobby of the purchase of the new facility, the HFA church family went to work beautifying the premises and converting it into a church.

Today this new facility is an icon of God's glory and blessing to the entire community of Hobbs, New Mexico. This truly was, is, and continues to be "God's Project".
